I was approached by BYRNE to help capture Man on the Moon using a single camera move. Rehearsals took place at Penmar Park in West LA - the only space large enough to run the length of the dance with a camera - 1/4 mile. After much research, Soggy Dry Lake Bed in the Mojave Desert was chosen as the backdrop. We wanted to capture the dance in the late afternoon light while avoiding crew shadows and equipment. The team was was forced to run behind the camera making things very interesting to say the least. This still remains one of my favorite projects for its simplicity.
